The 9th Annual Mustang Bayou Turtle Race took place on February 6, 2010 and was a huge success due to the great response from the community parents, students, ad teachers. The Alvin I.S.D. Education Foundation hosts the race each year, with this year’s funds reaching almost $50,000 in grants and scholarships.
A total of 9,587 turtles were adopted, an Lakes of Savannah’s own Manvel High School adopted the most turtles at $7,360, followed by Alvin High School’s $6,430 and Alvin Primary’s $4,300.

The Alvin ISD Education Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization formed in 1998 for the benefit of the students and teachers of the Alvin ISD.
